What the blended average hides

Don’t trust a single blended hourly average — top spend is concentrated in UX/product retainers at roughly $35–50+/hr (they account for most of the dollar volume), while routine engineering and ops work is typically procured at $15–30/hr; price mobile/UX proposals with that split in mind.

Treatment verdict

How they hire, and how they treat people

Makeen Technologies hires a lot of product designers and mobile/web engineers on multi-month retainers and short fixed-price design pieces, with most work run through a small, stable core team.

Reputation
Mostly uniformly high freelancer→client ratings (many 5★) with occasional lower scores (2.7–4.0) scattered across contracts.. Freelancers repeatedly describe clear expectations, steady collaboration and professional communication, and note long-running/consistent work relationships.
The catch — ratings are uninformative
The buyer gives near-universal 5★ outbound ratings with few lower scores; their outbound feedback is typically brief or numeric, so public ratings read as broadly positive but sometimes mask freelancer complaints.
How they engage
Mix of long retainers (multi‑month to multi‑year) and one‑off fixed‑price or short hourly gigs; the buyer rehired the same freelancers multiple times.
Working style
Works with freelancers on ongoing retained engagements and discrete tasks, gives concrete briefs and stays involved in clarifying requirements while expecting regular updates.
Who wins the work
Freelancers who accept multi‑month retainers, communicate proactively, and can operate inside a product/design‑led team (UX, mobile, full‑stack) fit best.
Repeat hires
Rehires the same freelancers — 1 on 2+ repeat contracts (one up to 4). Deliver once and there's recurring work.
